It was earlier reported that the deal had fallen through, after Zenit stated that Arshavin was on his way back. However, Arshavin's agent stated that the deal was completed and just needed clearance.

Newspapers often get these things wrong. I remember a few stories last season that ended up being untrue. There are no quotes from anyone involved with the club. Until it's on Arsenal.com it's just journalists and people on the interweb jumping the gun so they can say I was first with the story I'm the one who knows what's going on at Arsenal.

However, Arshavin's agent stated that the deal was completed and just needed clearance.

Even if this is true if it needs clearance clearance may not be given, the deal may not go through.

OK the working day has started. Even allowing for snow if we haven't heard in 4 hours I doubt we will.
Gut feeling? I honestly don't know how to call this. If this is down to a backlog at the FA due to workers not being at work because of the snow, why are there no stories of other clubs waiting?

PostPosted: 03 Feb 2009, 19:04

give it time ...its 8pm where u are right?..id say by midnight your time we will have all the news we need!!

i think its all done and if it weren't we would be hearing something..arsenal.com will be the only 100% conformation so we should just wait to hear from there!

farkin oath, if this guy is another Modric, Suker or Shevchenko I'm buying a ticket to London, getting Graham to get me a ticket to a game and stomp his F***** head.

I'm not sold on this at all, I don't like the fact that he's never played outside of Russia and only had 1 good tournament and in reality will take 6 months to get used to our style.

70 000 pounds a week aint that bad though. everyone wanted a big signing and this is it, lets see if it works or not.

this makes me think (on a tangent)

has the internet killed journalistic integrity (though fox did pretty well already) because people don't care about being right, its about being first on a subject and if your wrong it doesn't matter, but if your right you attract the majority of web traffic and make the most money.

We'll if that is the case I'll fix it boys and girls don't you worry, now enough procrastination, time to make the Arsenal Australia newsletter

hey come on now guys...give him a chance...its not his fault this dragged on so much...and the fact that Russians are stubborn & stingy Pr**k

and he's had 2 good tournaments ...haha he was good in the uefa cup last yr for zenit also...go and watch a youtube video on him...then u can judge him...

and also at least we are proving that we are willing to sign to keep in the cl hunt...and a natural replacement for rosicky/hleb as rossy is never playing...all in all i think he will be good...and he has proven that on europe's biggest stage he can be good..so why not in the epl?? or even cl?

The internet has changed journalism. Everyone can write whatever they want. It's both good and bad. There's a lot of crap out there, but there's also a lot of stuff that is important and wouldn't have got into the media without the net.

Zenit have confirmed the transfer went through:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 92,00.html

Here's an article stating that we paid 16.5m, but they've got the shirt number wrong so it's no guarantee that we've paid that much:

Uefa cup is not a leading tournament = me not convinced

European Championship = Guus Hiddink organised the team extremely well, they were very lucky and thus it made him and the rest of them look better than they really are

that said Arsene doesn't buy on reputation and I trust his judgement, he's not always right but lately I can't think of a bad signing in the last 5 years.

Its nice though that he is committed. Apparently he hired a private plane to be there when the final paperwork needed to be sorted out

Then I guess he has some $$$$$$$$ to spend, 70k a week aint bad!
