Despite the fact that Baptista also scored 4 against Liverpool, I think Arshavin is the real deal, and he reckons he hasn't adjusted to EPL football yet.

One of my brothers is a huge Rangers fan so i watched Arsh alot last season during the UAFA cup run and he was awesome i was never in any doubt that he wouldn't be a hit in the EPL,and it gives me hope i'm the exact same height as AA but i'm crap so forget it.

basically, he's a scoring hleb with external confidence.

I think Cesc and Andrey should co-captain the squad! Andrey is really good with the young. Even BEndtner felt obliged to support Andrey as Captain.

to be honest when i heard we were signing him i was not to impressed, we still need desperately a decent center back and defensive midfielder, i thought why are we getting another attacking midfileder, who was very inconsistent in the euros, but bloody hell arsh has really proved me wrong he has been such a positive impact on the team and he has been sublime at times arshavin i salute ypou, now to just get rid of bendtner and the bloody useless denilson

I don't know about captaining the side, but Arshavin has really helped considering Rosicky missed the entire season.

If we don't suffer any more major injuries, we'll be looking good for next season.

Arshavin has been great, but we shouldn't get too carried away yet.

Arshavin was always going to be a decent player.

It was just whether his age and time to adapt were worth his transfer fee.

So far he's looked the goods though.

ALL CLASS!

Read an interview with him after the 4 goals he scored against Liverpool. He seems pretty down to earth too, great guy.

What do we all make of AA agents comments about the tax hike for the rich in England... The high income earners eg. Footballers are being hit with a 10% tax rise and AA manager is expecting Arsenal to foot the bill... he has said that the player agrees to earn a certain amount and that if the tax rate increases the club should give all the players a pay rise to compensate them for this..... I say poor him... he will go from taking home 48000 pound a week clear to 40000 pound a week clear... poor guy don't know how he could live on such a small wage.... AA is a quality player but his agent has been a dick from day 1...

He was earning a lot more in Russia, although that was reduced by the collapse of the rouble.

I thought we'd set up tax havens for most of our players anyway.

Just get Arshavin to say he's a resident of the Bahamas or something like that.

Its becoming a bit cliched now that every player who signs for Arsenal has to express dreams for playing for Barcelona.

He's been misquoted.

I can't remember what the initial comment was, I read the initial translation and it was a joke the stories that have come out of it.

Yes Guus is at fault for playing him, but surely AA must bear some of the blame too. If he knew he wasn't right, why did he play?

Guus is just looking after his own interests, just like when we don't release players for their countries.

The solution is to split the season into internationals (May-July) ish and domestic (August - April) or something along those lines, like what rugby do. would make internationals 10 times better as they would be playing week in week out and the focus would totally be on them for a couple of months

also what did cescf say, he's posts are blocked to me, i'm sure it was uninteresting anyway :)

So Arshavin is starting to be a bit of a knob, talking sh!t to the media. He didn't do great this year (probably because of where he played)

He's a quality player but will wenger sell him for a profit, use the money to invest in another player and keep the squad more harmonous.

I've noticed that when he scores players don't immediately run over to celebrate with him, and vice versa.

I've noticed that also. I don't think he's a great team player, but I think he's committed to the team at the moment.

I hope he stays this season, as he's a quality player and I think, when fully fit next season after a full pre-season with no interruptions from the World Cup, will be back to his best.

Starting to got a bit pissed off with Shavings too - he hasn't been fansastic this season, so he should do his talking on the pitch not off it! Don't think he'll leave - though it was interesting to hear both Wenger talk about Nasri and Nasri talking about himself playing more on the wing in the future, and comparing him to Pires. That would mean either Shavings or Theo losing their place...

I think Wenger realises that a bit of rotation is necessary when we're playing twice a week. The standard of football is at such a level now that players can't play twice a week every week whilst getting kicked all the time and not pick up injuries.

There can be no doubt about his quality, but his workrate seems lacking at times. He did play out of position often this season, and supposedly with injuries too. Still, no excuse to be a primadonna. A bit of "small man syndrome" perhaps? If he thinks Barca will be interested in him after the campaign he has had, I think he is deluded.

All the Arsenal fans know that the Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin has been underperforming this season, but he has admitted it himself today.

He has suffered from numerous injuries this season, and has often complained about being played out of position when both Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner were out injured.

“I think England has not seen the best Arshavin,” he said.

“For me I was at my best at 2005.

“On a scale of zero to 10, I have been at a maximum seven. To be at my best I need, first of all, to be fit all season.

“I must be quicker and more focused and concentrated in some parts of the game.

“This season I had to play up front. It is not good for me, but I do not complain because there was nobody except me.

“For me it is better I play behind the striker or a little bit deeper.”

“What can you do if each year you have a lot of injuries?” he said. “I think it has been the biggest problem.

“Last year was the same and the year before, too.

“If we had all our players fit, we would have had a much better chance of winning a trophy, but every time we have had two or three players out.”

Hopefully next season Arsenal will be able to start with a fully fit squad, excepting Aaron Ramsey who will be out until the autumn. And I sincerely hope that Arshavin has a good rest and comes back to his best as soon as possible.

At least he won’t be playing any international matches this summer!
