Loic Remy is a possible target, although not until the summer:

Transfer window now closed.

In: Campbell, Galindo.

Out: Senderos.

Definetly wanted another striker, but than aint gunner happen now, unless there is an uncontracted, world class player out there, highly unlikely.

Now, the next job is to try and get Chamakh on a pre-contract asap if he really wants to join us. At least we will have him for next year for nothing as well.

In some good news Chamakh says he wants to join Arsenal at season's end. He would be bloody handy right now!

Looks like Chamakh is coming, but we really need strengthening in the keeping department as well as the striker department.

Hopefully Wenger decides to sell Almunia and buy a good quality keeper.

It's frustrating that we have seen better keepers than Almunia swapping clubs in the EPL over the last couple of seasons yet we showed no interest. It really is our week spot - I can't remember a game since Lehman was around in which the goalkeeper has taken the points (or a point) home for us on the back of his own performance.

I agree 100% I am probably bias being a keeper myself but I believe you can't win anything without a top class keeper.. the defenders today were lost the keeper was not commanding, he had already had a few shakey moments when he came out late and left his defenders uncertain then the back pass thing etc... Almunia is commanding in those situations but doesnt command high balls... we have scored a s**t load of goals this season but we have conceeded too many also.Scezny (however you spell it) is getting some massive reviews in the championship... I would get rid of almunia and fabianski... buy a senior experienced keeper and have scezny back off loan and mannone for back up..

The problem is that the stats don't lie about Almunia - he has been terrible this year.

This year, he's made 44 saves and we've conceeded 30 goals (Almunia has conceeded 25)

Last year, he made 86 saves and we conceeded 37!!!!!

His form has really dropped off, and although we should react to players playing poorly for a few games, a keeper is one player who you need in your side every week. It can't just be an injury issue as he's had plenty of time to recover during international breaks and during the five week break he had whilst Mannone was keeping.

Keepers really suffer from confidence, particularly when deciding when to come and get balls, but if Almunia doesn't have the required mental strength, then maybe it's time to look elsewhere.

That was the brilliant thing about Lehmann - he had such self confidence, that regardless of whether he made a mistake or not, he wasn't worried about his ability next time.

Whether we need a new experienced keeper or not is up for debate. I'd prefer for us to sign Akinfeev, who is a gun keeper already and he's still only 22-23.

yep some good points, the legendary cloughie believed in a solid world class keeper was essential to a team, like when he signed shilton, he believed in having a solid spine running through the middle of the team, excellent keeper, centre backs a solid ball winner and distributor and leathal striker up front and build around that, it worked for old big head, i think we need a few quality players as our squad is no where like chelseas's or man utd's, but guess all we can do is get behind the lads we have got and cheer them on, no matter how frustrating it gets :) you never know wenger might actually spend 5 quid when fab goes at the end of the season or is a fiver to much for wenger to spend :)

Couldn't resist posting this:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... l?ITO=1490

Arshavin has recommended Igor Akinfeev as possibly the world's best keeper once Buffon retires.

Interestingly, it could reflect a lack of confidence in the abilities of Almunia and Fabianski.
