Sydney National Meet 2025

AASC National Meet – Sydney 2025

Hi there Gooners.

It’s been delayed a year due to the Arsenal Ladies match being played in Melbourne last May, but we finally swing the National Meet around and head back to Sydney. The last time we held the Meet there was back in 2017 when we were treated to an unforgettable Arsenal FC Tour with 2 matches played at a packed out Olympic Stadium.

This year’s Meet will be held from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th May.

For the recently joined Members here, the traditional National Meet has occurred every year since the Club originated back in 2007 when we achieved official status as an AFC Supporters Club. It has grown over the years, enabling us to get together to celebrate being Arsenal Fans, meet new Gooners and catch up with old Friends.

National Meet Weekend Activity Schedule

Friday 24th May – 7- 10pm

As per usual we kick the weekend off with the traditional Gooner Gathering Meet & Greet event.

As Gooners arrive from their various places of origin we will meet up upstairs at Molly Malone’s Irish Tavern https://mollymalonestavern.com.au/ located in the heart of the Sydney CBD for an informal welcome over finger food and refreshing drinks. During this event we’ll outline the specific arrangements for the Events to be held over the weekend. The Schedule below provides you an outline of what’s to come.

Saturday 25th May

We will meet up for our second event of the weekend at 10.30am at Wharf No.5 at Circular Quay. Once gathered from there we will head over to Cockatoo Island a short 20 minute Ferry ride. There we will explore the historical Island which has been used for many differing purposes since its’ original use as a Penal facility. Whilst on the Island we will relax over a long Lunch and take in the views across the Harbour before heading back to Circular Quay for approximately 4pm.

There will be time for a break before we gather again in the early evening at 7.30pm for the AASC Annual Member Dinner event upstairs at Molly Malone’s. The Arsenal Trivia event will then follow the Dinner, getting us all putting our thinking caps on to answer questions about all things Arsenal related. Spot prizes will be given out during the Event with the winning Team receiving a Team prize and all the bragging rights!

Sunday 25th May

Sunday kicks off with our usual first event of the day, the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is an event that will be held upstairs in Molly’s. We are obliged as an official Supporters Club to run this meeting every year. It does however, take place at the reasonable time of 11am, enabling us to crawl out of our beds, grab a strong coffee and participate.

The AGM provides us with the opportunity to discuss the Supporters Club activities during the past year, review the Finances and explore new ideas to improve ourselves. In addition we formally debate and agree on new roles and personnel changes within the Club structure.

Following the AGM, we will head onto a Barefoot Lawn Bowls event at 91 Sydenham Road, Marrickville for the afternoon. The event will begin at 2pm and run through to 4.30. The venue is holding a free Blues music fest during the late afternoon and evening for those musically inclined.

After a break for those keen to spice up their early evening, we will head to Maya Da Dhaba, an Indian Restaurant, located at 431 Cleveland St, Surry Hills, for our traditional Curry Night. This has become a firm favourite over the years, especially with the Ex-Pats. The restaurant comes highly recommended. Please note this event is an optional extra and not subsidised by AASC. Places are limited so get in quick if you are eager to join us for this one.

Finally, we stagger back to Molly Malone’s and head upstairs to watch our final match of the Season against Southampton as part of Super Sunday. In the past a few have attempted to head back to their Hotels for a power snooze and re-charge but this has resulted in them sleeping in and missing the match as it kicks off at 1am! We’ll be able to use our dedicated area upstairs from 11pm onwards so there’s no reason why shouldn’t just use the ‘magic spray’ to clock up more steps and push through to the finishing line.

For those who are unaware, Opal Cards are free to obtain from Stations, and can come with pre-loaded credit on them starting from $20. They enable you to use Ferries, Trains, Buses and the one Tram that goes through the heart of the City on George Street right out to Randwick. The Tram passes right past our hub venue, Molly Malone’s on Devonshire Street, a free kick away from Central Station. As we will be using a Ferry and a Train for return trips for a couple of events, you may need to ‘top up’ the Card as you go over the weekend.

Finally, we are looking forward to seeing as many of our Members as possible in Sydney to enjoy catching up and share yet another celebration of St Totteringham’s Day!!

Cheers & COYG!
